THIS is what Pokemon GO looked like in my area in 2018:
youtube
2018 iPhone Pokemon Go looking "rural"
THIS is what Pokemon Go looks like NOW (2024) where I live:
Well, I've been testing this for years, so there's definitively an ample amount of data that proves there's a group of saboteurs that target South Weymouth Massachusetts. There's also that no infamous incident in February 2020 on Reddit where they were bragging about sabotaging my area, and full on fighting with me. They even actively got me banned 3 times in 2020, and I had to change my identity, and pretend I was a dude from 2020-2022, and even changed my name 4 times. #PokemonGo
There's some evidence 🤔 it's connected to an Ingress beef as well. I've had a list of suspects as well. They seemed to have originally been targeting an Admin in my area, perhaps out of envy. They also seemed to have confused me with said admin, or thought I was his underling. That's not how we do things in Weymouth. We're not master & slaves, we're neighbors, n each player has their own unique areas of specialties.
Also, the god level players in Greater Boston live in Weymouth, not just masters of raids, getting Hundo, Shundo, n rare shiny Legendary Pokémon, but whom r naturally blessed w luck, somehow. Or, they're the very best GBL & PVP Players. I know who they r, we all know each other, do raids, share tips, help newbies, n coach people to achieve. We also cultivate tolerance, talking stuff out, n safety. We've had some bad experiences here n there, so we like women players n kids to be safe. We also interact w players in other towns, n car pooling is very popular.
As far as game play goes, we're good.
But, I'm talking about #NianticWayfarer
Because the vultures are REAL!
I've had to figure out, n navigate these punks. They appear to have OCD, n reverse psychology issues, n do stuff out of spite. There's a group of them (including on Reddit) n they take screen shots, probably have extra fake accounts, n they login to Wayfarer , n scour Wayfarer for stuff in Weymouth. Especially in South Weymouth, where we live. This has been going on since late 2019, when Wayfarer 1st went live.
We used to think it was so odd that all the best advice we dug up from Ingress players, as well as resources, for the new Wayfarer rules was not working out.
So, it was a common excuse of "lazy reviewers" or "lazy voters". But, I kept getting accused of being an "Abuser", and a "Racist". FOR PLAYING POKÉMON GO??? FOR SUBMITTING A WAYPOINT TO WAYFARER???
WHO DOES THAT MAKE SENSE TO???
But, I noticed that while posting inside our local Discord server, for Wayfarer, if I told everyone WHICH locations I was submitting, they'd all fail, and quickly.
But, when I submitted stuff, and DID NOT TELL the Discord server thread which ones I was doing, I noticed those usually went through.
This was a very consistent pattern. But, everyone in the server was still very status quo oriented like "it's just lazy voters".
youtube
THEN IT HAPPENED!
IN February 2020, they started bragging! IN PUBLIC! ON REDDIT! N THEY CALLED ME "AN ABUSER". THEY ALSO THREATENED TO BAN ME, WHICH THEY ACTUALLY DID.
Here in Weymouth, we coordinate, n we can be very motivated & diligent, including myself. I coached people to get really good at this. I also took much of my strategy skills I learned from playing Ingress, to strategies on Wayfarer. [ Another Ingress thingy of mine. ]
These punks also would sabotage my Google maps account. They'd move my Google points out into the ocean, or the wrong locations. This is how evil they are. They also smeared me using a fake account in Discord. They know all my social media using my BlackUniGryphon names on them. I actually never even did anything to them. I've never seen them face to face. They r just vicious. Someone also hacked my original BlackUniGryphon Reddit account n I can't even recover it because they changed the email address. They also made a Reddit account using my Google email, n got it banned for really bad behavior, n there's nothing I can do to fix it, n it gets notifications for explicit gay sex stuff, that I can't even turn off. I didn't even know they made that account until long after it was banned, because I was busy XP grinding to Level up in Pokémon Go.
This is just SOME of the stunts they pulled.
But, to show u an example of the nonsense they group vote on, n coordinate as saboteurs, the reasons they give r literally the exact SAME, including from OTHER PLAYERS I KNOW that aren't even my account.

These r all submitted around the same time n from different accounts of different players, n all in Weymouth. SOUTH WEYMOUTH actually.
Notice they cited "Rejection Criteria" as "Temporary or Seasonal Display", or "Generic Business". Another bogus one is "Mismatched Location"
Notice how they're all the same?
They pick the same reasons, to intentionally sabotage it. Other times these locations were submitted, they'd use different coordinated rejection reasons that were exactly the same reason, as tho they pre-determined what the rejection reason would be. Like "BAD Photo" or "Orientation of the Photo", or "Blurry Photo", or "Racist", or "Abuse" or "Unsafe".
This time the saboteurs chose "Generic Business" or "Temporary".
Also interesting to note is, we haven't submitted anything in months except for 1 guy I know, and he gave up for a long while in Weymouth. I haven't submitted anything in months, other than Appeals...
Well, we did a batch, n u can see the dates showing January, then placed them on hold. Of those batches we did, we told no one publicly, just ourselves.
And, since the vultures were not on the prowl, they started getting approved. These were locations that were the stubborn ones. The ones that obviously go through in other towns. And, things getting approved started creating new PokéGyms as well. Plural.
So, after a while it's hard to keep it quiet, and we bragged a lil bit.
Well..... the vultures noticed, n went to Wayfarer, n sabotaged the last of the batch in Voting.
I've gone through this process over & over for years. All predictable patterns at this point.
Bur, the stuff that we, or I, couldn't get through in 2019-2022, is pretty much LIVE & in the Niantic games now. We know IITC MOBILE, we know Ingress, we know Wayfarer. We know how to change our writing styles, we know how to adapt. We know long term strategy. I even use decoys as a method to test if the vultures are active. I'll submit something intentionally knowing it's got a lower chance of passing (because I know the rules from the older systems) n when the vultures r out, it'll get rejected quickly. But, there's times when my decoys passed through. Which shows that it's subjective, and not objective.
Like I wouldn't expect a bland generic coffee shop, or plain or pizza takeout, to go through. In my opinion, it should be a special & unique one, or ethnic one. So, objectively that shouldn't really go through. But, ones that actually SHOULD COUNT N QUALIFY SHOULD go through. But, if it was in Weymouth it wouldn't, but in other towns it would, n did.
When it comes to being a hateful person, there's only so long u can keep that up, because it's toxic & draining. So, they often give up, n stop logging in to sabotage the area because we don't submit anything.
It's basically like applying principles from Algebra, or mathematics. Like subtraction is addition in reserve. Or, division is multiplication in reverse. Or, things like factors & variables. If u get more & more data that shows a result, we can plot that data.
We can find: trends, averages, rates, coronation.
And even tho originally there were no jerks in my face telling me they were sabotaging me/us, they eventually DID brag on Reddit. They also expressed their motives, which were often an attachment to this idea of weilding power over others, a drive to feel superior, or righteous. Or psychologically weaponizing rules. If u gotta behave like that to pretend u r the hood guys, n I'm the bad guy, u r seriously sick in the mind.
But, even BEFORE they bragged about it, I could tell something was up just by analyzing the patterns in the results, n treating as experiments using the scientific method.
I could think working backwards & forward, like Algebra using variables and factors.
I could also change the way I wrote my blurbs to see which tested better.
Despite the haters, I (and my Community) have turned a desolate place into a thriving one.
Anyways, I won't be mentioning names. There was at least 1 player from Reddit that we smoothed stuff over with.....
But, I won't be naming them. I still will do raids with naughty players because I find they can overcome prejudice by exercising tolerance. I also believe in talking stuff out. But, let's be clear, some people actually r sick in the head, n WANT TROUBLE. If they talked it out, they wouldn't have strife, drama, n trouble because it's something they feed on.
I've also noticed that, sometimes some people can suddenly change. It does happen. N there's no logical explanation. Sometimes, not everything is logical.
U also need to be flexible, but also not end up inside a trap of some sort, mentally, metaphorically, energetically, egotistical, pridefully, ideologically, or otherwise.
There's no 1 set way of doing anything, n no 1 definitively correct method or WAY of accomplishing it.
No good deed goes unpunished.
U could do everything 100% perfectly flawless, n still get screwed. Because it's not actually about being right. N that's WHY it stings.
But, get stung enough times, n u get thicker skin, or u don't even feel it. It's just a number.

I coached so many players through this same mayhem. Remember, it's NOT REALLY ABOUT YOURSELF, IT'S FOR THE COMMUNITY. YOUR PRIDE MEANS ACTUALLY VERY LITTLE....

But, let's keep it real, the BRAGGING is built into the game... so, u should show ur accomplishments....
I honestly wouldn't have even cared.... but, those vulture made me into this.
HATERS CAN KISS IT!!!!

The list is great. Video games are just a huge taste based thing. What videogames would you recommend to people who've never really gamed before? My parents retired fairly recently and have since picked up various games. Among these are Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Civilization, Diablo 3 and Minecraft.
I tried desperately to get my dad into video games because I was worried about him not having enough hobbies. I tried Doom (cuz I remembered him playing it back waaay back in the day), I tried RPGs like Skyrim and I tried strategy games like Age of Empires. Nothing stuck, so I gave up.
Then he saw me playing Pokemon Go once, and though he was initially dismissive, he became curious when I managed to find all the arguably interesting sites in his boring as hell childhood hometown (because they were pokestops).
Now he and mom play the game excessively, have a large group they raid with weekly and have traveled out of state to attend multiple Go Fests. My dad is even one of those crazy players who will use two phones at once. Sometimes it can get a little embarrassing, but it's hard to be upset about something that keeps them socially and physically active and gets them out of the house.
All this to say, I have no idea how to recommend games to people who aren't yet gamers. I think you need to just keep exposing them to new things in a no pressure kind of way until something sparks their interest.

Veteran Player Expedito
This is a homage to my friend Expedito.
I love Pokémon since my childhood, and it's obvious that I would spent my time enjoyng Pokémon GO. Last year I has discovered a few POGO players in my town, what it was a relief because I didn't played the game since 2018. The other players was nice with me and we keep contact for future meetings and playing together. It was fun.
I discovered that one of our most active players was an elder man nammed Expedito. I heard a lot about how POGO gave a new hobby-kind to the eldery people, and now I was watching this closely. Expedito was a persevering player for fun, and also a freeplayer, what means that he was always saving his pokécoins to use them during the events and anything that the game could give. I didn't had a great time with him, as I was the last player to joing in to the group, but I can tell that he used to be nice, sometimes a funny person and always ready to help the other playes. The rest of us are 19~29 years old, while Expedito was 70. The grandpa of our group. He used to walk away, going around pokestops an gyns to play, and used to take the group with his car to go to the far gyns during the events and community days.
I was helping to complete the Unow collection dex, and everyone was trading the post cards to get the other Vivillon patterns. He's gone so suddently. One night was playing with the guys, and on the next day, we just received the bad news. I pay for his family, his wife, and for his nephiews that used to play with all of us. I'm sure they are missing him too much like the rest of the team. He passed away on june 4th.
I did this homage with all the Pokémon that he loved too much. The shiny nosepass was a plus, because it was the last pokémon that he captured. He was so happy to get another shiny on that night. All of the pokémon team was a suggestion from the other playes that used to be more close to him than me.
Thank you for all your precious kindness and friendship. You was a truly Pokémon Veteran player.
Rest in peace ~

tuesday yet we persevere
what a week lads
listening up to partizan 18. the exchange of jack: "is inertia when you're stopping or going?" austin, very confidently: "it's when you're going" had me shouting NO at my phone, thank god art chimed in to clarify and actually define inertia. i love you art. been listening to a lot of breaking benjamin while i marathon-focus on trying to finish my poster by. tonight. yeouch.
reading fallow
playing pokego! it's become my fun little morning activity while i lay in bed waking up. like. ok i need to be awake. i will drowsily catch the 3 pokemon that spawn around me and spin the pokestop across the street. ok time to get out of bed i guess.
watching hbomberguy new four hour video reigns supreme. i've had it on periodically while i do chores, cook, etc.
making pottery! basically everything came out of the kiln at once! some finished objects:

the mugs (more like teacups, really, shrinkage strikes again) came out cute, despite the orange one getting a crack in the handle. i really love the way the white bowl came out with the koi, i'd put lillypads inside but they really didn't show up at all so i didn't bother photographing. that little black vase was done with a dark blue glaze that came out. black. so i probably did too many layers, plus it was on red clay, so oops. the little ramekins came out cute, i tried one of the stoneware glazes on the left one and it came out really matte which surprised me, but otherwise some standard lil bowls! and finally i hate the striped object behind the ramekins. i forgot to cover it up after making it and didn't get to trim it before it was bone dry so i just had to let it be was it was so it's really bottom-heavy. and i hate the way the glazed stripes came out. such is life. my roommate likes it so i might give it to her LOL.

dragon mug underglaze came out interesting!!! i used two different brands of underglaze and one of them came out. shiny?? so putting clear normal glaze over that texture proved a real challenge, especially for the handle. i used another underglaze (a chocolate brown, same as the one on the handle on the right) to fill in the background/inside/some linework details, then covered the whole thing in clear, so we'll see how that turns out! the little tree teacup i just covered in clear and put back on the kiln rack, i didn't want to add anything else to it, it came out sooo cute :)

did more underglaze stuff on two bowls, eye motif!!! one as a scratched out and one as painted on. excited to see how they go for the first firing. i had some Big bowls to trim and they were still a little wet but i was like eh i bet i can. i could not. look how i've massacred my boy (bottom left). it totally spun off the wheel but thankfully it's still soft enough that i was able to just sorta nudge it back into a circular shape. i did ragequit trimming for that day because of it though and did the eye underglaze work instead hahahah. hopefully will be able to trim them on wednesday! it's just so dang cold in the area where the pottery is stored to dry out so it takes forever in the winter.
finally, i finished the winter headband for my roommate's mom last night! image is not the finished one, i forgot to take a picture yesterday but i'll just do that after i block it later this week. i took the photo a few days ago because i actually made a mistake in the pattern and was trying to judge how obvious it was and whether or not to go back 10 rows and redo it. i don't think it's that obvious so i decided to keep going. can you spot the mistake :b

misc oughhh aughgghghgh academic poster. my advisor was really difficult to communicate with yesterday but made up for it this morning. her husband stressed me out for no reason but it's fine. i think i can finish it before the poster session tomorrow but odds are in the air as to whether i can get it Printed before the poster session tomorrow. woof. and then i need to figure out what i'm wearing at this conference and pack by friday.

Niantic is such bullshit. Like, I nominated a literal historic landmark to be a PokeStop, photo showing how it lights up at night, context photo showing how there are seats and an information sign next to it, it gets rejected with no reason given, I appeal it. It gets rejected with the message "it's a normal tower with no significance to the area". WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!? I literally described what the significance was! I based my description on what I read on the information sign right freaking next to it. The photos show how it lights up in multiple colours! It's probably the historically significant structure in the whole damn area! Whatever. I'm just going to submit it again as a "new submission" and maybe someone won't be dumb.

on pokemon go
you catch pokemon. there are about a thousand of them. at least at some point people acted like "completing the game" meant catching them all. i'm not sure if that's still true
the world your character inhabits is a map of this one, when you move around in the real world, your character also moves
you can see pokemon on the map and if you are close enough you can click on them, which then takes you to this mini game where you throw pokeballs (you have a finite number of these) at them
you have to throw the ball at the pokemon, if you can throw a curve ball (this is done by drawing a circle which makes the ball spin, then throwing it at an angle) and also get the ball within this circle which keeps shrinking, you increase your chances of catching the pokemon
there are also berries you can feed pokemon, this makes them move around less or easier to catch or increase the amount of pokemon candy they drop
each pokemon has a Combat Power or CP for short, this is basically a measure of how strong they are in battle. i think it also affects how hard they are to catch
so pokemon drop pokemon candy, a certain amount of it is needed to evolve a pokemon or increase their CP or give them new, stronger attacks. candy is specific to the type of pokemon, so you might accumulate eevee candy, pikachu candy, etc
some pokemon can only be caught by evolving the more baby pokemon, so the game goes from "catch one of everything" to "catch a LOT of certain types", it's kind of a grind
on the map you can also find pokestops, you can also click on these, they are like these special checkpoints that drop a random selection of pokeballs and berries and other game items. these refresh every five minutes. they are associated with some location in the real world, like a plaque or a park or a statue or whatever
in order to upgrade pokemon (by increasing CP or adding new attacks) you also need stardust, this is totally fungible, a little bit of it is dropped when you catch a pokemon but you also get it as a reward for completing quests and winning battles
there is this guy, the professor, who is responsible for the storyline of the game, i just skip through all the dialogue because it's kind of boring though. he gives you these quests which mostly amount to completing some task such as "Catch 10 Fire Pokemon" etc. these quests grant you rewards such as experience points (you can collect XP to increase your level), stardust, pokeballs, berries, etc. they also give you encounters with pokemon, which can sometimes be quite rare
so one objective of the game seems to be to make your pokemon stronger, but why? well you can use them to fight other pokemon. one situation you encounter is with TEAM ROCKET, who appear randomly on the map, they are the villains of the game, you can fight their pokemon with your pokemon. this mostly involves a lot of frantic tapping of the screen. as reward you usually get XP, stardust and some items.
you may also get the chance to catch one of their pokemon. these particular pokemon are always corrupted in some way, like they have been turned into twisted evil forms. this makes them extra aggressive and harder to catch. you can spend pokemon candy and stardust to purify them though? i'm not sure what the point of this is but doing it feels like i am writing the wrongs of the world somehow
after a while of playing the game you will run into certain limits, for instance you can only carry a certain number of items and a certain number of pokemon. you can discard items and you can transfer pokemon to the professor (which gets you one corresponding candy in return) to free up space. alternatively you can buy more space using pokecoins
in order to acquire pokecoins you can purchase them with real currency, or you can use pokemon gyms (pokegyms?). like pokestops these are special locations where you can put one of your pokemon, then strangers come along and battle it. when your pokemon runs out of "motivation" (this can be replenished by feeding it berries, strangely you can also feed other peoples' pokemon) it is returned to you and based on how long it managed to stay there, you receive pokecoins
so pokecoins are the real in game currency. there are all these other items and quantities you have to keep track of but this is the real one, which can also be used to buy more items and things that can progress the game faster or give you access to rarer and stranger events that i haven't taken part in yet
there are other ways to acquire pokemon: firstly you can trade them with other players (you have to have added them as a "friend" by sharing a code in real life and also be standing near them) and secondly you can hatch eggs. you sometimes get eggs as a reward for completing quests. to hatch an egg you have to put it in an "incubator" and walk a certain distance (something between 2km and 12km). surprisingly enough, you only have a certain number of incubators and most of them can only be used a set number of times. you can receive more of them as rewards for completing quests and things like that or you can buy them with pokecoins
now i feel like i've explained enough. i had to do this otherwise i would end up interspersing my opinions about the game with explanations of the game mechanics and it would feel so awkward like the digressions are getting too long and too detailed. it feels like the details of it fit together in such a way that if i were to explain pokestops for instance then i would also have to explain all the items, and the map, and so on
sometimes i think about adding to this article and then i think ok, i'm going to play the game for a bit to remind myself of things and then i just get so lost in it and forget about writing. fortunately it's not that interesting so i am able to drag myself away from it. like although it must have taken a huge amount of work to model all of those pokemon and do their cute animations and statistics and so on, it feels much less like a labour of love and deep detail than the original games
for example the music is just not that good. and you can hear where it loops, the track just stops and then it restarts again. it's also just a bit harmonically and melodically boring. it feels flat and second order, like they had listened to the old pokemon soundtracks and decided to make something like that, rather than just imagining from scratch what an overworld theme or battle theme would evoke and trying to make music that fit that mood. it's sad because this game has made so much money, why couldn't niantic go ok, this was a success, why don't we give something back? i know, everyone who says this is just misunderstanding capitalism. but i feel entitled to it somehow because the game itself feels so much like gambling, i want it to make an effort to draw me back in. like a casino serving free drinks. charm me. make me feel like i'm worth it. cos i sure as hell don't!
ok there are things i like. i like the character design. it's kind of impressive that nintendo keep trying to make more pokemon when there are just so many. in some ways this is the big draw for me, i am walking around the world or waiting for pokemon to respawn and then i find a new creature i haven't seen before. and ofc now it's in 3D, and the size of it and how it moves around affects how hard it is to catch. so a small pokemon really feels small. probably my favourite design (although i don't think it's the cutest) is darumaka, which is like this little guy who looks like the traditional Daruma gurning japanese doll heads. he has little legs but he is always tripping over them and rolling around joyously, which makes him quite hard to aim at but it is adorable
there's also this guy Sobble who is like this teary eyed little tadpole newt, but when it evolves it turns into drizzile which has more of a lizardly quality and is sort of slouching a bit and has a bit of hair draped over its face. it's a moody teenager pokemon

What is Stardust in Pokemon Go and How to Get it

If you've been playing Pokemon Go for a while, you've likely come across the term "Stardust." But what exactly is Stardust, and how can you get it?
Stardust is a resource in Pokemon Go that is used to power up and evolve your Pokemon. It is essential for leveling up your Pokemon to make them stronger and more powerful in battles. Stardust can be collected in several ways, including catching Pokemon, hatching eggs, and participating in raids and events.
One of the most common ways to get Stardust is by catching Pokemon. Every time you catch a Pokemon, you are awarded with a certain amount of Stardust. The amount of Stardust you receive varies depending on the level of the Pokemon you catch. Generally, higher-level Pokemon will award more Stardust than lower-level ones.
Another way to earn Stardust is by hatching eggs. When you hatch an egg, you are rewarded with a certain amount of Stardust, along with the new Pokemon that hatches from the egg pokemon go stardust farming. The amount of Stardust you receive from hatching eggs also varies depending on the type of egg and the distance needed to hatch it.
Participating in raids and events is another way to collect Stardust in Pokemon Go. Raids are cooperative battles where players team up to defeat a powerful Pokemon. By participating in raids, you can earn rewards, including Stardust. Events are special in-game activities that offer players the chance to earn extra Stardust and other rewards.
In addition to these methods, there are also special research tasks and field research tasks that reward players with Stardust upon completion. These tasks often require players to complete specific objectives or challenges, such as catching a certain number of Pokemon or visiting PokeStops.
Overall, Stardust is a valuable resource in Pokemon Go that is essential for leveling up and evolving your Pokemon. By catching Pokemon, hatching eggs, participating in raids and events, and completing research tasks, you can earn Stardust to make your Pokemon stronger and more powerful in battles.

What if other Pokemon in Pokémon Go get Adventure Effects?
So we’ve known since December 2023 about Dialga and Palkia’s Origin forms getting special effects of their signature moves Roar of Time and Spacial Rend respectively. These are called Adventure Effects and are able to change how the game is played. They can only be used if you have the specific Candy and enough Stardust and can have their time limits extended by using more of both.
For the sake of those who didn’t get the chance to participate in the event to get these Pokémon a few weeks or longer than when I made this post, the moves do as follows;
If your Origin Form Dialga has Roar of Time in its moveset, it is able to pause the timers of all items currently in play that affect you specifically. I haven’t tested it on the Mega Pokemon timers or the Daily Incense yet, but for the regular Incense, Lucky Eggs and Star Pieces, it will pause the timers if they are active before you use the Adventure Effect. It does not affect Adventure Effects themselves (I’ve tested it and they don’t work that way).
If your Palkia is the Origin Form with the move Spacial Rebd, than it expands your search radius for Pokémon. Honestly I would’ve preferred if they made it so Pokemon that are Region Exclusives (Tauros for the USA, Kangaskhan for Oceania, Mr. Mime for Europe, etc.), but in hindsight this is still a very strong effect, especially if you have a Pokémon Go Plus or Plus + but a stationary job like Office Worker as opposed to one like Factory Worker where you gotta keep on your feet. I think it might also extend the range you can interact with Pokestops at, but I haven’t tested it out.
But this isn’t about Dialga or Palkia. You read the heading, so you know this is about what other Pokémon could get these Adventure Effects, so let’s look at a few examples of where these Effects could go, starting with one I already brought up; Regional Exclusive Encounters.
There is a Pokémon already in the game called Hoopa, the Mischief Pokémon. The signature move of the Hoopa in the main series games is Hyperspace Hole which as of current is not available in Pokémon Go, and would be an amazing move to incorporate the ability to catch Region Exclusive Pokémon from the comfort of your house. However, there’s another way this could go. Reminding now my dear audience; Hoopa Unbound, the Djinn Pokémon with its own signature move, Hyperspace Fury. Again in the mainline games, when Hoopa switches between it’s Confined and Unbound forms, it’s signature move also changes. So how abiht this~
In Hoopa’s Confined Form, you can use the Adventure Effect of Hyperspace Hole to encounter low level Region Exclusive Pokémon but will be a sinch to capture. However if your Hoopa is Unbound and has Hyperspace Fury, than the Region Exclusive Pokémon will be higher level, but I hope you have a lot of Razz Berries because they will be tough to catch.
Now let’s look at a different way Adventure Effects could be done. Type Specific Encounters.
The two examples I came up with sadly already have their signature Moves available, but if Niantic ever decides to adjust that, than Origin Form Giratina with Shadow Force allowing more encounters with Ghost Types and Heatran having more encounters with Fire types if it has Magma Storm would be a great way to integrate older moves with special effects. Could even work with Xerneas and Yveltal’s signature moves Geomancy (I know it’s a status move but Charm is doing damage in Go so whatever) and Oblivion Wing (both of which are not in Pokémon Go yet) increasing Fairy and Dark type encounters respectively.
I know Heatran, Xerneas and Yveltal don’t have alternate forms, but it still could work. Adventure Effects are brand new, so we don’t have set rules quite yet.
The final idea I have so far is for the biggest mamma jamma of them all, Arceus and Judgement. Another move not yet in the game, and this one is a more situational one… but what if it majorly increased the chance of catching Pokémon? Have a specific Raid Pokémon you want but you hear it’s catch rate is impossible? Use Acreus’ Judgement Adventure Effect and you’ll never have to waste a Premier Ball again!
Well that was some ideas I had about the Adventure Effect mechanic. Does anybody else have any ideas for what could be done? I honestly just like conversation, so if anybody can come up with anything else, than I’m all ears.
Thanks for putting up with this essay of a post and I hope you all have good luck in your games.
Ciao4now!

My surgery this Wednesday will be major. I haven't had an invasive surgery since 2011...and that one turned into a two-parter. I'm going to get an incision across my abdomen. And hopefully they'll remove that giant stone causing me pain.
How long I stay in the hospital will depend on how well the incision heals. It could be a week to several months. I like to be realistic with myself. I'm guessing a 2-3 weeks personally. The bladder itself has to heal as well.
They're giving me an epidural! If I understand this correctly, this will be to numb the post-op pain. I've talked to them about this sucky pattern where I come out of surgery and the only pain meds they offer me are the ones I take at home, because they assumed it was the same thing. The few pills I take for my hip are not strong enough for SURGERY. My doctor says she'll have the acute pain team deal with my pain med situation.
But while I'm in the hospital, I'll have tons of entertainment since three of my shows will be going on at once, with new episodes of Gen V and Loki coming out on Thursdays all October, and new episodes of Rick and Morty coming out on Sundays way into next month. And there's plenty of shows and books to catch up on. I found a collection of pdf's of all 54+ Animorphs books online, and now I'm rekindling my love for the series.
And Super Mario Bros Wonder comes out on the 20th. Plus Pokemon Go is starting all their Halloween stuff the day after my surgery. (Gee, thanks.) And then Timburr Community Day on the 15th. Hopefully I'll he able to reach one of the hospital Pokestops from my room, but if not, I have tons or Pokeballs.
So whether or not I'll want to use my IV hand to hold my phone, there will be stuff to do.

Be relatable.
Don't boast.
I have also noticed that if the Waypoint is military, especially THE NAVY, it tends to go in your favor, usually.
Be respectful.
Proofread, use correct grammar, punctuation.
Does what you wrote flow well? Does it seem annoying? Were you rude? Were you lazy? Were you thoughtless?
Did you include links, or citations to build your case?
Are you familiar with laws & local statutes?
KEEP IN MIND the REVIEWERS.

Old Green Eyes and other Lores from the Chickamauga Battlefield
(Note from our hosts: We apologize for the quality of Episode 1 of our podcast - we are new to this and have since increased in quality and decreased in awkwardness. Thank you)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Chickamauga Battlefield is located in the northern part of Georgia in a city called Fort Oglethorpe. If you ask around, locals will describe the area as "beautiful" and "serene" during the day, and I agree! During the summers - I recall looking out on the lush rolling fields, watching the tall grass sway with the wind. The sky is the brightest of blues, the sun is shining bright, but the canopy of trees keeps you tucked away from it's rays. The battlefield has some of my best memories.
The name "Chickamauga" is Cherokee in origin. The land originally belonged to a smaller branch of the Cherokee Nation known as the Chickamauga Tribe. Although there are many variations of the word Chickamauga - some historians believe that is comes from the word "Chicamaco" meaning "dwelling place by the water" - water, referring to the Chickamauga Creek (two short tributaries of the Tennessee River that run north and south) . However, many believe that the word actually means "River of Death". (Which is honestly very accurate as you will soon find out)
With the amount of people that come to battlefield to sight see (or you know - catch pokemon because every grave stone/ monument is a pokestop) It's hard to believe that this is (basically) a large graveyard that once was covered in the blood and corpses of soldiers. Evidence of a battle that is deep rooted in the history of the south. On September 20th 1863 - the last cannonballs were shot. The Confederacy had won after three hard days of hell on Earth. It was considered the first major win for the confederacy but it came at a cost - The Confederacy had 18,454 casualties while the Union had 16,170 casualties.
Note: Casualties = killed, wounded, missing, or captured
The Battle of Chickamauga was considered the second bloodiest battle of the Civil War (for the number of casualties) right after The Battle of Gettysburg.
So yeah the battlefield is hella haunted, and if you were to ask anyone from the area if they had any stories - most of them will.
My dad for instance - told me that there was a time in his life where he had to drive through the battlefield at around 4-5am every morning in order to get to work. Now, my dad doesn't scare easily at all, nor is he one to make up stories. According to him, shadows can be seen walking or dashing across the road, even if you have your high lights on.
Remember how I said earlier that there was a a canopy of trees there? Well because of that - it is pitch black at night and I have definitely been spooked a couple of times driving through (okay - it's not hard to spook me. Jump scares, no matter what it is, will always get me).
Another incident that had happened within my family was when my niece was about two or three years old. My sister in law and her mother decided to take her for a stroll in the battlefield. It was a beautiful day and they wanted to get some fresh air. This would be my niece's first time going to the battlefield as my sister in law and brother had just moved back home from being stationed in North Carolina. As they strolled past one of the open fields my niece began to giggle. This was odd to my sister in law as my niece was asleep in the stroller with a pacifier in her mouth just a few minutes prior. She brushed it off only for her to giggle again a few minutes later. She asked her what she was laughing at and the toddler's response was "Mommy. Look at all those silly people. They're so silly. They're all falling down." She lifted up her arm and pointed her her little finger out to the empty field. My sister and her mother high tailed it out of there. There was no way for a toddler to know or even understand what went on there, not to mention there had been no talk of the battlefield prior to this event. Could it be that she was watching a ghostly replay of civil war soldiers dying on the battlefield?
There are also other known beings in the battlefield other than shadows and apparitions:
Old Green Eyes The Lady In White The Headless Horseman Bodies in the Bloody Pond Another note to add is that the Civil War was not the only occurrence of death in the area:
So, does Chickamauga earn the name "River of Death"? Are these beings actually out there or is a whole city of people just seeing things? Find out more by listening to Mysteries At The Coffee Shop on Youtube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more!

Imagine playing Pokemon Go with your f/o! Did you two join at the same time, or one later, so that you planned to be on the same team? Or if you joined separately, did you end up picking the same team or different ones?
They’re happy to walk around with you! If you like to find new places and explore the locations of Pokestops, they love the wonder on your face. Even if they’re not much of an explorer themself, they get excited about finding and learning about new places because your joy rubs off on them so much. Or maybe they’re the one wanting to explore! They‘ll take your hand and lead you to where they want to go. They ask you with a plead and mock sad expression to explore with them. They look and sound so excited!
If theres something you want, like a Pokemon on the nearby radar, a raid, or a gym to claim, they take you along to get it without you even asking. Whether they smile and tell you “Well let’s go check it out!” Or wordlessly take your hand and lead you, they know they want to give you the opportunity to get what you want. They want to see you happy.
Or if there’s a Pokemon you want that they have, they quickly get ready to trade with you. And they don’t mind if you don’t have anything for them, you can just send them something you wanted to transfer anyways, they just want to give you what you want.
They’ll help you take on gyms! They proudly claim gyms with you, thinking it cute how your avatars and pokemon stand next to each other afterwards. If you’re not on the same team, they help you battle, but make sure you get the last fight so you can claim the gym for your team.
If there’s a big raid you want to join but you’re nervous about being around people, they’ll go with you, holding your hand, and find a place a little further away from the crowd where you can still connect.
Do they name one of their Pokemon after you? How do they react if you name one of your Pokemon after them?
Do they like to take pictures of their Pokemon? They’ll ask you to pose in some pictures with them! They’ll take pictures of you with their favorites and with your favorites. Or if they’re not the type to take pictures themselves, they’ll take pictures of you with your Pokemon for you. If you take pictures of them, how do they pose? Do they pretend to pet the Pokemon, or do something silly, or are they camera shy?
Does your f/o know a lot about Pokemon, or want to know, so they rattle off facts to you or look up type matchups and stats? Or are they not very familiar, playing casually? If you like to talk or gush about Pokemon, your f/o happily listens, no matter what their level of familiarity is.
You can spend some time walking around where you live, giving your f/o a chance to see more of it, and perhaps share some history and stories with them.
Or, you can play where they live, and you get to see more of their home, and hear their stories and facts about the area.
You could also go somewhere entirely new, so you both explore a place for the first time together. You could play with a group of your f/os! The many of you together can take down bigger raids.
Would either you or your f/o be prepared with snacks and water on days you decide to play for hours at a time? Maybe while you’re out you stop at a nice place to eat. Or if you end up tired, your f/o makes you take a break, or carries you back to the car or home.

2.18.2022 Friday
Tour in the morning, uh... lunch, oven frozen empanada, quick walk to the pokestop, went in to do the storeroom in the afternoon, talked to the trainees for a long time. I think I watched Aiura during lunch, it's better than I remembered, I 100% forgot the plot but can still sing along to the OP
listened to more of An American Marriage
watched Olympics, skating, women's...?
2.19.2022
watching a whole bunch of short animes for club, most are bleh but a couple are really good, Aware Meisaku-kun is one of the good ones
went to St. Vincent, got a highlighter yellow vest and hat, crunchy shirt, mustard yellow jeans, and two brown coats and another pair of boots to use for making Yang, I'm excited to cut up that one coat and see what I can do with it! i figured $10 for a coat would probably get me like 1 yd of the same material new, so...
went to the library and crammed as many volumes of manga as I could into my bag (checked out), gonna try and see what they're like to make better recommendations
had grilled cheese at 4 pm, gave up on dinner, watched more Olympics until I couldn't take it anymore, chat/lack of topics to chat about with friends, getting ready to finally come visit next weekend! caught up on Kouchuugun
maple cinnamon roll. Oh, and found out I get bonus Wordle because I never closed my tab on the original :D
2.20.2022
Pokemon Arceus (as every day recently), chocolate croissant, went to grandma's and she told us about her furniture, I assumed it was all passed down but apparently her family used to go antique shopping too... so that's another reason it's all so old. Hadn't really realized how weird it was until we've been watching Anne with an E lately and we have the same furniture
packed up for three weeks, spaghetti, more audiobook, helped some plastic break down, finally spots :( finished Squid Game ep 6 it was as bad as I'd been told (sad, not bad, really)
oh also Chi's Sweet Home has an anime with 2-minute episodes, and halfway through the second one I was already crying
okay yeah... closing ceremony of the Olympics was tonight but didn't watch, did see the highlights from the exhibition skate
oh and I just wanted to write somewhere that I'm feeling kind of lost again since kanji kentei happened, I might dive back into Duolingo... also talked about pay schedules, caught up on fandom twitter, and apparently there won't be many guests from Japan for the event I was going to interpret for, and they only gave four interpreters, idk if they're gonna need that many (me) or not, but that might be for the best

Hey! I don't know if you're doing requests for one shots since I read that you weren't for now. If not then at least I can give you an idea. Ship (Arlo x Reader)
So let's imagine that Reader has an older sibling who is a good pokemon trainer and a big inspiration to the reader. Sadly he/she tragically passed away (Cause is up to you) and Reader deals with grief. After losing a battle with Arlo, he makes a pretty hurtful comment (something like "Your sibling would be so disappointed in you."). The reader couldn't take it anymore so she breaks down into tears. Since Arlo didn't knew that Reader's sibling passed away, he's finding himself in comforting you as much as he can.
I know it's probably cringe, but I think it's worth a shot.
Have a nice day/afternoon/evening/night
It was still hitting you. A month ago, you were laughing with your big brother Benjamin as you trained together. Ben and you did everything together, you were inseparable.
Ben was a popular trainer and everyone wanted to be just like him. You used to tease him, saying you didn't know what the big deal was, he would playfully shove you and laugh.
You looked up to him, he was your inspiration.
Three weeks ago, a drunk driver took your inspiration away.
A week ago, you wore all black to his funeral, staying quiet as everyone offered their condolences. You watched as his black coffin was lowered into the ground, tears in your eyes.
The three Leaders, Candela, Blanche and Spark, offered their condolences and told them if you needed anything, just to ask. You nodded and told them you appreciated it.
You tried to deal with your grief through battles. The thrill of winning brought the tiniest of smiles to your lips. But the sound of silence instead of Ben cheering you on wiped it off in no time.
You saw Candela's old friend and new enemy, Arlo at a Pokestop, taking supplies. You glared and challenged him.
Big mistake.
He laughed as he petted his Shadow Salamence for doing such a good job and returned him. He smirked at you. "You're that trainer Ben's little sister right?" He asked.
You froze. "How do you know my brother...?" You asked quietly.
He scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Everyone who's anyone knows who Ben is. He has potential unlike you. He'll be disappointed to hear you lost to Team Rocket."
Ben. Disappointed. Lost. Ben.
You broke. You collapsed onto your knees, tears pouring out of your eyes. Sobs shook your body.
Arlo jumped. "What the hell...?" He whispered to himself. "Hey, cut it out. You're not getting my pity just because you lost-"
"BEN'S DEAD!" You screamed, vainly trying to wipe your tears away. "HE DIED THREE WEEKS AGO!" You cried out, sobbing loudly as you hugged yourself. "He was hit by a drunk driver! I should have told him not to go out! BEN!!"
Guilt hit Arlo like a Machamp with Cross Cut. He didn't realize your bother had died. And here he was, taunting you with him as a weapon.
Fuck.
The next thing you knew, he was hugging you. You tried to push him away but his grip was stronger.
"I'm sorry." Was all he whispered.
That just broke you further. You gave up and just collapsed into his arms, sobbing into his chest.
"I miss him!" You yelled, muffled by his coat.
"I know." He whispered, stroking your hair.
Why was he doing this? He owed you nothing. He should have just walked away but he didn't. He was confused as to why.
"Why'd he have to die?! I need him!" You cried, gripping his shoulders.
"I wish I knew." He whispered back, letting you cry.
You didn't know why but this was...comforting. Even if he was the enemy, he comforted you. He held you and let you cry it out.
"Maybe he's not so bad." You thought, sniffling and letting him wipe your tears away with his thumbs.
"Arlo...?" You asked.
"Yes?" He whispered back.
"Stay with me awhile?"
"I was already planning to."
Somehow he made you feel as though things would be okay. Ben was gone but he always with you, no matter what. Just like Arlo.
And for now, that was enough.
--
Well, Luci (if I may call you that!) I hope this was done well! This kinda broke my heart but I hope you enjoyed!

Since you're a fandom fiend, have you got any obscure facts you haven't had an opportunity to share? I have a couple Pokemon related ones I can share. The first being that Australia didn't get any event Pokemon during the entirety of generation 3 meaning for a period of several years the last event Pokemon was Celebi which was given out in September 2001. As for the second obscure fact, Pokemon street art has gotten preserved by Google Maps. To explain, there's probably multiple instances of Google preserving Pokemon street art but the one I know where it happened is in Melbourne, Australia; specifically of an Ivysaur in the place that connects AC/DC Lane and Duckboard Place. The art can be most easily seen by looking at it from Duckboard Place and is right by art of a vagina (that is surprisingly uncensored). To boot, I can boast taking a photo of that particular street art of Ivysaur and have posted it onto here and Instagram.
I also want to point out signs were made in regards to Pokestops when Pokemon Go was new but I am not sure if that is an obscure fact or not. If it is, it'll be nice to know what happened to them and how many still exist. If a great bulk of them were thrown out and/or destroyed, at least I took a photo of one in North Carolina Zoo.
thats rlly interesting about the pokemon stuff! hilarious though thar we didnt get ANY pokemon events as like fkdhfjksd a country. thats killing me fjkdshfjkshdjkfhjkds
as for me and obscure trivia? hmmmm im not rlly sure i know any? i know some random DA stuff like Thedas stands for The Dragon Age Setting and was just a placeholder name that ended up sticking around development fjdshfjksd
or that the reason why touga utena doesn’t have an arc in the black rose arc (and is in fact barely present) is because his voice actor wasn’t available during that period of production fdkfkhdsjkf
#ask games#i sadly dont know much about the behind the scenes of a lot of media i consume?? fjkdhfjksd
